How to open a register shift
The till won't take orders without an open shift. A cashier or the owner opens it.
There's one register shift per location: it's opened in the morning and closed in the evening, and all of the day's sales go into it.
- 1Sign in to the till with your PIN.
- 2If the shift isn't open yet, the till shows the "Open shift" window by itself.
- 3In the "Opening float" field, enter how much cash is in the cash drawer at the start of the day.
- 4Tap "Open shift".
If the shift is already open on another device at the same location, the till simply joins it. You don't need to open a second one.
"The shift hasn't been opened yet. Ask a cashier or owner to open it."
Staff without the "Shifts" permission (for example, a barista or a waiter) see this message. A cashier, administrator or the owner has to open the shift. You can tap "Switch cashier" and sign in as someone who has the permission.
